Paul Doyon is a professional educator, having taught for over 30 years in seven different countries. He founded EMF Refugee in 2006 after becoming very ill living in close vicinity to several cell towers while living in Japan. After living abroad for a total of 25 years, he returned to the USA in 2013 and he decided to start a course to become certified an Electromagnetic Radiation Specialist (EMRS) at an institute in Santa Fe, New Mexico, which was starting this course. He started Electromagnetic Safe Planet in 2016 after completing the course.
So… now, as well as being a professional educator, he is also a certified Building Biology Practitioner (BBP) and an Electromagnetic Radiation Specialist (EMRS) with the International Institute of Building Biology and Ecology.
He has been working for approximately the last fourteen years to educate people and raise awareness regarding the adverse health effects induced by exposures to man-made electromagnetic radiation (EMR) from both electrical appliances & electrical wiring (power frequency) and from wireless devices & cell phone base stations (radio frequency [RF]).
He has also over the past 12 years been envisioning the formation of an NGO/NPO called EMF REFUGEE: THE INTERNATIONAL COALITION FOR AN ELECTROMAGNETIC SAFE PLANET (IC-ESP), which would serve as an educational, support, and action-oriented organization calling for (1) EMR-safe zones, (2) non-corporate funded research, (3) drastic reductions in present electrosmog levels, (4) restrictions on tower placements near schools and hospitals, and (5) the development of safer alternative technologies (e.g. fiber-optics).
He started the Yahoo Group in 2006 called EMF Refugee (now with over 1000 members) and a blog called The Microwave Factor Blog (with over 6000 posts) after becoming extremely ill in 2005 living in the vicinity of several cell phone towers/base stations while residing in Japan and had thus become an EMF Refugee himself.
At that time, he coined the term, EMF Refugee, as he had to become one himself fleeing an area with high levels of RF EMR surrounded by cell phone towers.
In 2013 he moved back to the United States after living abroad for 25 years in a total of six different foreign countries — Japan, Australia, China, India, Thailand, and Chile — where he taught English as a Foreign Language (EFL) and English as a Second Language (ESL) at the university level.
He has been applying his research, writing, and educating skills he gained from years in education to the electromagnetic radiation problem.
